Late is Temporary - Bad is Forever

This newsletter contains affiliate links. Not all of them, but some of them. I earn a small commission, and it doesn’t cost you anything. I call that a win-win.

While you may think the original GPS was made by Garvin, you’d be wrong.

It’s your anus.

Think about it. You have to go “number 2” and the closer you get to home, the more your brain and sphincter start doing some sort of telepathy, and you’re seriously worried you’re going to poop your pants as your hand grasps the doorknob.

So when things get close, we tend to hurry, and often make bad decisions.

YEARS, Not Months, YEARS

I know people who have been “thinking about starting a podcast for years” and yet have a very dusty microphone in their bottom drawer. My point being the world has continued to spin without their podcast

Working Through the Learning Curve

So they work through learning software, mic technique, and gain a little bit of confidence on the microphone.

They produce a first episode, and it’s so close to being good. It’s not horrible, but much like a wrinkled T-shirt, sure you can wear it, but it’s a little embarrassing and you hope nobody will notice.

Even though the world has waited (as of this writing) 22 years for their podcast they feel the pressure and need to release this episode now (like Taco Bell and Chipotle combined). This is pressure they are inflicting themselves with.

I am feeling the pressure now as I rebrand one site and launch a new one. I get it.

I Need It Out Yesterday!!!

The problem is I can’t get the branding right. I wanted it out last night. But I’m just not happy with everything. Now I could just force it out, but I need to remember.

Late is temporary - Bad is forever

so I put if off a week. The world will somehow make it.
(and sure I can always change things later… but do we?).

Don’t Turn Into a Perfectionist

So while I’m saying, “Pump the breaks” I am also worried that saying, “You might want to buff out the rough spots” will turn you into the person with a dusty microphone in their bottom drawer.

Identify what needs changed, change it, and launch it.

We all hate those bad pitches, but now you can use them to get some exposure for your show. Just read the bad pitch (leave out the names, cause I don’t want to be sued) and explain why it’s bad, and who your preferred guest would be.
